Just ate lunch here today. Great atmosphere. I had the Crabcake BLT and it was delicious! I took half of it home for dinner. Fried green tomatoes are a side and are fantastic!

Food is usually good here but the last two visits for lunch were disappointing. Ordered the salmon plate and could not believe the tiny portion for $12. Complained to the server and the manager but both shrugged it off. They said Sal, the owner, had cut the salmon portions and they agreed they were too small, but hey, that's not our problem. Generally, though, the portions here are good. During our most recent visit, my wife's onion strings were way overcooked. She could not eat any of them. The adjacent table also had onion strings delivered as we were leaving and they looked fine. So, bottom line, there are some inconsistencies here. The restaurant is still very good but other food options beckon.

Been a while since I posted a review for LPG, even though we get in here at least a couple of times a year. Still the same owner & operated by a very friendly staff ready to accommodate special requests. Still offers daily specials and a menu of delicious-sounding imaginative creations using fresh locally-sourced ingredients. The complimentary bread (which I would describe as a 2-inch thick, moist, focaccia bread topped with herbs) is very tasty & served with olive oil for dipping. I always add some ground black pepper to spice it up. Seconds were offered, but we declined. My wife had the grilled salmon salad with a vinaigrette dressing which she described as "perfect for her tastes." It included roasted golden beets (a very different beet roasted just right), asparagus, arugula, and cherry tomatoes. I had the Roast Beef Melt which was loaded with roast beef, spinach, red onion, house-made mozzarella, and thyme-peppercorn aioli on a hoagie roll cut diagonally at the center. This is a GENEROUS sandwich that requires BOTH HANDS to hold and eat without having an "extra helping" slide out onto your plate. The meal comes with a side... (there are ten to choose from)... I chose the collards with smoked bacon and onions. These may be the best collards in SC. But if not, you will hunt for a very long time to find better unless it is at Grandma's! We were planning some shopping in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday... so my wife said, "This would be a good opportunity to have lunch at Long Point Grill." Correct! LPG is not nearly as busy at noon on Saturday as it is at noon on weekdays! Have a good look at the delicious home-made cakes in the case just inside the door on your way in... LPG has pie, too. Choices vary so ask server what is available. Guess why the desserts are so good... hint: sister sites, same owner: Boulevard Diner, Long Point Grill, The Mustard Seed, and Village Bakery.

It's taken 2 1/2 years, but we finally headed to the Long Point Grill. I liked it from the start ... a free standing building with plenty of parking; smallish, but well utilized interior space; decor that's homey and bright; a mix of demographics, and a large whiteboard with the day's specials brought to our table. Our server, Amy, quickly approached our table and helped us navigate through the large menu. We ordered 2 glasses of wine ($7.00) from the small, but adequate, wine list. They arrived, quickly ... were good pours ... we were off to a good start. Once we placed our orders, Amy quickly returned with a basket filled with slices of freshly baked focaccia bread and proceeded to fill a small dish with olive oil. I was waiting for the oil to be topped with some spices, or, maybe grated cheese, as it lacked eye appeal but the delicate seasoning on top of the warm bread did the trick. We went through two baskets before our appetizers arrived. My husband's LPG House Salad ($6.00) was simple and satisfying with mixed greens, carrots, red onion, cucumber and tomato tossed in a light and refreshing red wine vinaigrette dressing. My starter, the Lowcountry Egg Roll ($9.00), a relatively new item on the menu, was fabulous ... two large wrappers stuffed with juicy pulled pork, large chunks of shrimp, collards and sweet corn. The plate was tastefully decorated with enough peach ginger purée for me to mop up every delicious morsel on the plate. My smoked cheddar tomato pie (actually two small pies) was beautiful and tasty ($9.00). I liked the custardy, quiche-like texture of the filling and frankly, anything with this combo works for me. I was not expecting. but was certainly pleased with a large portion of the LPG salad accompanying the pies. A perfect combo! Unfortunately, the jury is still out on the merits of my husband's entree, the Southwestern Ravioli ($20.00). It looked interesting on the menu ... ravioli, BBQ shrimp and scallops, roasted garlic cream, chipotle crema and sweet corn salsa. It arrived and looked somewhat unusual ... and not necessarily in a good way. The dish was swimming in cream. There were precious few ravioli. My husband does not remember any shrimp (nor upon review could we see any in the photo). What saved the dish from total disaster, from my perspective, were the 8 plump sea scallops ... they were perfectly grilled, moist and tasty. Though a piece of peanut butter pie was calling out to me, we both passed on dessert. Though not perfect on all counts we definitely will return to this gracious, family-oriented restaurant that has earned its spot as one of Mount Pleasant's go-to places to dine.

Went in Tuesday for lunch...took over an hour for our food; not to be expected during the work week. We overheard the waitress telling another table that they were short a cook so they were backed up. She never offered that information to our table. It took so long, the table beside us had to get their salads to go! We both ordered the mahi special. After finally receiving our food, our fish was maybe 2 oz of fish. Needless to say, we both left hungry and disappointed. I saw the manager/hostess walking around doing...well, not sure but if it were my restaurant, I would be in the kitchen helping to expedite the food. We will not be back. All of these restaurants have gone down hill. I will not even eat at Mustard Seed anymore after seeing an employee cough on his hands, then place bread in the bread basket.

Have been here twice now - once for lunch and once for dinner and was pleased both times. A simple but very good menu; lots of southern dishes and comfort food - mac and cheese and meatloaf for example. Salads were very large. Service was great. No beer on tap, but a nice selection of bottled beer. I'd stop in again.

I came here for dinner last week with a few friends. I had always heard good things and was under the impression that it was a 'Mom & Pop' hole-in-the-wall place that did southern and soul food. They do do these things but they have some more complex and unique dishes on the menu as well that were not expected. I was impressed with the menu and easily found 6 or 7 things I really wanted to order. In the past, I have been disappointing by a Mac & Cheese Entree for lack of variety in the dish but the one here is more like a typical pasta dish. The pasta is smothered in cheese, mushrooms, peas, onions, and chicken for a mouth watering combination. My friends wife ordered the short ribs and they just looked too good no to have a taste... the short ribs that is. It was the most tender and flavorful bite of short ribs I have ever had. It would be tough not to order that on my next visit. I must say that it's rare to see everybody at dinner completely finish their plate. You probably could have put those plates straight back in the cabinet after how well we cleaned them. We were there for a late dinner, I think we arrived just before 9. We were all eying the double chocolate chip cheesecake on the way in and had pretty much decided we would share one... or two, before we left. Unfortunately, the early bird gets the cheesecake in this situation and they had already sold out. We settled on a slice of chocolate cake to share and it satisfied all of our chocolate cravings. It was very rich and quite a good size but very delicious as well. I would recommend sharing if you all just ate an enormous dish of food.

My neighborhood restaurant! Love the fried chicken as well as the pecan encrusted chicken; both have never disappointed me.

Never even heard about this place until a few weeks ago. I thought nothing but houses, boats and trucks were at the end of Long Point Road. Now that I know it's here....SCORE! I LOVED it! Adorable and cozy inside and a small outside sitting area. Great food options - I had a hard time choosing! I ended up getting their Chicken Club. It was HUGE, fresh and sooooo tasty!! I could only eat half plus the side of grilled asparagus it came with (they had great side options, too!) Next time I go back I want to try their Mac n cheese. The lady I was with got a small salad that had duck on it. She said it was absolutely delicious. Food felt like it took a decent amount of time considering it was a very slow day but AMAZING, warm bread was on the table. Plus, it was worth the wait!!!! Try it...NOW.

Had dinner last night. Sat immediately and had a wonderful server. Wife ordered butternut squash soup and it was awesome. I ordered pork medallions with grits and wilted spinach. Grits were great, spinach was bland and needed garlic, pork was very tough and without sauce wouldn't have had flavor. Owner should purchase Butchers Block Prime pork. Product is very forgiving and stays very moist. Overall good meal with exceptional service.

Out-of-the way unless you're a trucker going to the SPA Wando Terminal but a great little restaurant! Good prices for the portions and quality. The LPG Mac and Cheese is a personal favorite!!

I can only speak for lunch..but our party of four enjoyed it. We all had a sandwich of some sort: Pimento Cheese/Bacon BLT, Roast Beef, and I think someone had a Chicken. All dishes come with sides like macaroni, fries, greens, etc. Think Southern food. I did try a fried green tomato, which I usually love, however I will say it was not dipped in corn meal, however in flour instead. I personally didn't care for that, but the pimento cheese was pretty good. Service was great! Probably a nice spot for the locals.

Highly recommend the LPG mac-n-cheese; perfect comfort food! The pistachio crusted chicken is amazing - moist, flavorful - I don't care for the cherry sauce on it - but perfect without :) Never had a bad meal here, service has always been good, sometimes there's a wait - but it's worth it!

Charleston has LOTS of good restaurants. If this restaurant were in another city I'd give it at least 4 stars if not 5. However, with all the competition here, it's hard to give 5 stars. This place gives great value, has a good, varied menu, and knowledgeable wait staff.

This hole in the wall is quite a treat!! Their menu items are very unique and tasty. We went during lunch time and it was quite busy. They serve tasty bread with oil to start the meal. I ordered the meatloaf with mash potatoes and a salad, and it was SO good. Sara ordered the tomato pie (kinda like a quiche) and it was super too. It was moderately priced too (~$11/entree).

Great, friendly service. Food was spectacular...we both had raviloi - Hers the southwest style and mine the lobster version. Sauce delicious and everything cooked to perfection. Dessert was good, mine was a peanut butter/chocolate small cake, and hers was blueberry cheesecake. The cheesecake was probably the only dish that was unspectacular, to me it was a little crumbly and didn't properly incorporate the blueberries. Still highly recommended!

We lived in Charleston for many years and I LOVED this place, coming about once a week on average, so I was SO, SO sad when we went back to visit family and friends last month and had a disappointing experience. I had read the recent reviews and simply couldn't believe that things had gone downhill, but it seems it is true. I ordered the steak and fries and the steak was good nice, but the fries have changed. They used to be thin and crispy and beautifully salted, but they were greasy and bland. My husband ordered the chicken pasta dish and actually had to send it back because he thought it was bad (as in rotten, not fresh). Turns out they had cooked the chicken on the same grill as some fish and that was what had given it the off flavor. They re-made it and when they brought it out the chicken was raw inside! Thankfully he noticed the slimy texture before he swallowed it so he ate around it (and didn't get food poisoning) but really not a pleasant experience. They did comp his meal (as they should have) and treated us to dessert which was, as always, fabulous. I would come here for dessert in the future, but I think we will skip the food in the future. We miss you Long Point Grill and would love to see you turn things around!

Had a decent meal here last night. Food and service were both good. This was a first time here so I was unsure what to expect and after a horrible experience at Mustard Seed in Mt. Pleasant, I was worried. Turns out that this was much better. Service was courteous and timely. Still have no idea why they have to carry around that odd specials board with bad handwriting. Why can't the wait staff just remember what is on special and "sell" it table-side like all other restaurants? On to the food, good but nothing stood out at our table. Each of us either had a soup or salad to start and they were a little plain and just OK. The main course was better. We had the stuffed chicken, Mac and Cheese and two of the fish specials (just grilled). The Mac and cheese was very good, the fish seemed to be cooked well and nicely seasoned. Beer list (nothing on tap) was limited to American beers (all your standards + corona) but the wine list gave more choices. They do have a great selection of deserts, we did not try any, but have heard that they are very good. Overall, I would expect just a little more for the price but all things considered a good restaurant.

Went a on a very busy Friday night and had a great time! The place was packed, but our sweet waiter Nate kept our glasses full. I got the relish shrimp n grits and my friend the scallops BLT. We loved the gourmet food! Will definitely come back!

Similar to other restuarants in this group, the place can be off or on. Unfortunately, Long Point Grill is lately more off than on. I fear that it has fallen to the same fate as Mustard Seed. The last time I went in my fried green tomatos had so much cornbread I forgot there was a tomato inside... The salad was inexplicably designed to have hot items served on top of the greens, which resulted in a slimy salad... Gross. The menu also tries so hard to be cool or trendy, they need to dial back the extra touches and concentrate on making the food good again.

Amazing! The pistachio crusted chicken was so moist and tasty. Scallops were done perfectly. Kids tenders were made from real chicken. Service was excellent. Will definitely return.

This is one of those eateries where I look at the menu for 10 minutes and can't find anything that appeals. Everything is over prepared. I'm not usually all that picky, but something on the menu has to be a standard american meat and potato type preparation without odd ingredients. Not everything needs a "twist". To be fair, everything is very nicely done and flavorful, but everything is a bit over-thought in my esteem. Let me put it this way - most kids and truck drivers will be asking for changes and substitutions to the establishment's standard foodsy preparations.

when I knew we would be visiting my parents over Valentine's Day, I decided to research some nice restaurants to treat ourselves to. I decided on slightly north of broad, in downtown Charleston, because their prix fixe menu for the evening looked nice. I called them to ask about making a reservation and the person on the phone was INCREDIBLY rude! I am not one to typically get up in arms about a simple phone interaction (I have been a waitress for many years, know things can get stressful during service), but i could not believe that this person was acting like I was deeply inconveniencing them, when I was only trying to arrange a time to patronize their restaurant. i hung up and called Long Point Grill. not only was I greeted warmly on the phone, but also told that on Valentine's Day this year there would be 1/2 price bottles of wine from 5-8pm! I commented in my last review how exquisite the service was -- once again, our waitress (Rachel, this time) was friendly and great to chat with, and was professional and knew the dishes well. She gave us great advice on a bottle of wine, and I could tell she was always scanning her tables to see if anyone needed dishes taken away, more water, or anything else. After our second five star experience, we are loyal. Anytime we make the trek down from Massachusetts we'll be stopping in. By the way...they do NOT take reservations. Yelp should update their categorization at the top. On a busy night (both Valentine's Day AND one of their half price wine nights) we waited under 10 minutes for a 2 person table with no reservation.

Longpoint was my favorite restaurant in Mount Pleasant. Last time I went there the fish was overcooked, cold and the service was poor. The management did not seem to care and insisted that the fish was cooked perfectly. I hope they improve soon. The worst part of this is that I have been going to this place since it opened and this was the only bad meal I have ever had there. What really torqued me was the Management attitude. I am really really upset.

This is for all of the soup lovers out there. This restaurant has some of the best soups around. I particular love the Butter Squash soup... so creamy and sooooo good. And as for the rest of the food.. it's awesome. It's not an elegant place but just a place to kick back, relax and enjoy good food. Enjoy

Sauce on the trout was delicious; soups were average. I would have liked this place better if prices were about 1/3 less. The food was right on the edge of being a meat & three but with a gourmet twist. Be prepared to wait once you order. Portions are generous.

Another hidden jewel - tucked away near the Long Point Port. Excellent service, great fresh foods - another Sal got-it-right. Local favorite, can not go wrong with any thing on the menu. If you're not terribly hungry, ask for the children's chicken strips and upgrade the fries to another finger food - grilled asparagus with sea salt. Then, you have room for a great homemade (okay, purchased from the Village Cafe) dessert. Arrive early to avoid the crowd.

This should compliment Tommy V's review about his lunch experiences pretty well to give you a rounded view of Long Point Grill. I've never been for lunch since I live out in Summerville, but I hit that place for dinner for date-night with the wife, and for early "tapas-style" apps on occassion. The dinners are outstanding... LPG is owned by the same people who run the Mustard Seed, which is a local staple for fresh, unique dining. They also own a couple other spots around town which are all very good. The specials are something to watch for - they change all the time, and that is where some real winners pop up. The chef is very adventurous with their fusion of cuisines and it almost always works. Let me give you a sample. I had a crisp mango gaspacho the last time I went there while my wife had what I consider to be the #1 SHE-CRAB IN CHARLESTON... sorry for the caps. I was actually screaming when I typed it thoug - so it's relevant and creepy at the same time. She followed that up with a wasabi-crusted tuna with all kinds of other crazy stuff going on with the dish that all worked together to perfectly complement the Tuna, rather than overpower it. I hadn't had a nice rare steak in ages since my wife was preggers so I got a horseradish-crusted ribeye (which was huge) with smoked-gouda mash and some crazy vegetable mix. We followed it up with one of the best chocolate-fruit-pie-type desserts I've had in awhile. One of the other restaurants they own is a bakery so the desserts are truly unique. Wine list has a great mix for any budget, and the wait-staff is extremely knowledgeable. If you really like your wines, ask for Jeannie (I think that's her name. Blonde, bit older) She'll talk wines as long as you want. Or longer It's a little pricier for dinner, so it's more if you don't mind throwing down a few bucks. It's closer to $30 per person by the time you get through apps, drinks, dessert, etc. but you will enjoy it, and you will come back.

I love LPG. I've only been for dinner once but have been for lunch numerous times and for good reason. I truly have never been disappointed with my meal at LPG. Matthew is right about the specials - don't miss them. I had the fried chicken special last week and it blew me away. The best fried chicken I've ever had. The mac & cheese is a staple for me as well. VERY rich but VERY good. For lunch, in Mt. Pleasant, you can't beat the value of food that you get for the price of food. Warning - because it's so good and because the word is out - go early. Don't try to get seated right at noon. Go a bit early or a bit late during the work week.

I'm a regular. We have always gone out for lunch on Fridays, where we ended up used to be a mixed bag. Not anymore, now we go to LPG at least three out of four Fridays, it's that good and everyone agrees. The food tastes great and it's cheap, pretty much every entree is $8, which is way under-priced for the quality of food. The mac & cheese (with smoked Gouda and a healthy dose of vegetables) is everyone's favorite. They also have a few good sandwiches and a consistently good selection of specials and desserts (just like all of the other Sal Parco restaurants: The Mustard Seed, Sette, and Boulevard Diner). I was less impressed with the dinner I had there but I'll go back again before I pass judgment on that. It certainly wasn't as good of a deal as lunch.

I have had lunch here a couple of times (before yelping) but I was disappointed in the scallop dish I ordered from their lunch special menu. The flavor was a bit bland. The menu description stated that it was served on a squash puree, but I didn't really get that flavor. The puree was almost milky in color and basically tasteless. The diced potatoes were cooked perfectly. The scallops were tender, lightly seared but on the last of four on my plate I had grit from the scallop. The overall appearance was white and beige with yellow potatoes. It was a little reminiscent of vomit. I wouldn't order that again but because I have had some really good experiences at this restaurant, I will definitely go back.
